    Fishermen to continue protest

    Demanding them to allow fishing near Katchathivu and release of their boats seized by Sri Lanka, fishermen of six districts today decided to block the roads and train to Karaikal Port tomorrow even as their indefinite boycott of fishing on the same issue entered the fourth day today.

    They would also block the Indian Coast vessels to press for the same demand, Fishermen Association leaders said.

    While the Sri Lankan Government allowed them to participate in the St Anthony's Church festival in Katchathivu, the fishermen would also be allowed to fish in the traditional areas near Katchativu and also dry their nets in the islet, they said.

    Fishermen from six districts includig Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam would participate in the protest.

    The Fishermen had also decided not provide boats for the pilgrims going to Katchathivu for the festival and boycott the event to be held on Febuary 20 and 21, as part of the protest.
