Chennai
Even as Aranmanai-2 is scheduled for release this month, the row over Aranmanai-1 being a copy of Aayiram Jen mangal produced in 1978 has surfaced yet again.
This time the City Civil court in Chennai has directed both the film producers to settle the issue through Tamil Nadu Mediation and Conciliation Centre. The Civil Courts direction is based on a report from the court-appointed Advocate Commissioner that Aran manai and Aayiram Jenmangal have considerable similarities.
MM Combines, proprietor M Muthuram who had sought an injunction on stopping the shooting of ‘Aranmanai-2,’ had submitted that the Advocate Commissioner’s report would go to show that the film Aranmanai is the remake of the film Aayiram Jen mangal.
The court appointed Advocate Commissioner on viewing both the movies had stated that the plot, theme, storyline and structure are similar in both films. She also held that the script of both films were the same and most scenes were copied and replayed from Aayiram Jenmangal.
The report also stated that the viewer of the film Aranmanai would definitely get the impression that the film is the remake of the previous ghost movie Aayiram Jenmangal.
