Yet another student suicide?
Mystery shrouds the death of a 2nd year B Tech student of Anna University who allegedly had fallen from the second floor of the girl’s hostel building inside the University campus at around 11 pm on Sunday.
Chennai
When initial investigation suggested it as an accidental death, the parents of the girl are not convinced with the finding. Shanmugha Preetha (19), a native of Thiruthuraipoondi in Thiruvarur district, was brought dead at a private hospital in Adyar after she reportedly fell from the second floor of the building.
Shanmugha Preetha’s mother who was allegedly kept waiting at the gates of the hostel building from early morning hours on Monday by the security guards of the University, said she suspected some foul play behind the death of her daughter.
“She called me around 9.30 pm and had told me that she had booked the train tickets to come home on Monday and had told me that she would buy books for her younger brother, who is a Class 10 student. So she has no reason to commit suicide and the version of police and University authorities that she had fallen off accidentally while talking over phone is so hard to believe,” Parvathy Muthiah, mother of the deceased told media persons here.
