Teddy bear paintings to help kids of Chennai Schools to learn English
Soon students in government elementary schools across the state will be happy to see their classrooms being painted with illustrations of Teddy bears, jungle, fish bubbles, clouds and rain drops with English alphabets inside for students to learn English with joy.
Chennai
The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) state project directorate has initiated this approach to enhance students’ English language skills and improve their pronunciation. Initiative like these will not only make learning a joyful experience for government school children but also provide them facilities which only students from the private schools enjoyed for long.
Schools have been asked to paint 16 colour pictures in a 200 square feet wall space in the classroom by choosing colours and pictures appropriate for children. School heads have also been asked to choose illustrations and words from the textbook.
S Arumainathan, president of the Federation of Tamil Nadu Students’ Parents’ Welfare Association, welcomed the initiative and said that students need good English language skills to survive in the competitive global era. “This will not only help students retain the letters in their mind but will also help government schools attract more students as private schools get more students through such initiatives,” he said.
