Man hacks College girl, ends life

Police said M.Guruvanandam, a construction labourer was in love with P.Guruselvi (20), a third year student of a private college at Rajapalayam. Both of them hailed from Kunnur village near Srivilliputhur. However, Guruvanandam got married with another girl and have two children.

It was alleged that Guruvanandam had continued his relationship with Guruselvi even after his marriage. The girl dumped him recently after their affair turned soar. 

Guruvanandam had been stalking the girl and threatened her thereafter.

The gory incident took place this morning, when the girl was going to the college in a government bus from her village. Guruvanandam, who also boarded the same bus indulged in wordy quarrel with her in the presence of passengers.

The conductor of the bus on noticing the squabble, forcibly alighted both of them from the vehicle. Guruvanandam picked a sickle from his back and attacked the girl indiscriminately, leaving her in a pool of blood on the road. Later, he committed suicide by hanging from a tree in that area.

The girl was rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital at Madurai, where her condition was stated to be critical.

Vanniyampatti police have registered a case and are investigating.
