Gethu not a Tamil word, says Court

Madras High Court heard a plea on whether the State was right in refusing entertainment tax exemption for the Udhayanidhi Stalin starrer Gethu on the basis that the title was not a Tamil word. 

Red Giant movies contended that based on their plea at the High Court for grant of exemption in I-T on January 11, the additional Government Pleader had submitted that the viewing committee formed for this purpose would view the move and grant exemption by January 18. 

The viewing committee had unanimously rejected the grant of tax exemption claiming that the word ‘Gethu’ is not Tamil.
