Governor lauds flood control, relief measures
The Tamil Nadu Governor’s customary New Year address to the State Assembly on Wednesday had a detailed account of how the government handled the December floods and rehabilitated people swiftly.

Governor K Rosaiah placed on record his appreciation for the spontaneous response from the public. He commended the initiative to disburse relief amount directly through bank accounts.
The governor repeated the state’s consistent appeal for expeditious implementation of the interlinking of rivers. “The Centre should strive for a broad consensus on critical aspects like compensation period and methodology, revenue neutral rates, floor rates with bands, commodities to be excluded from GST, the IGST model and clarity on dual administrative control and ensure that genuine apprehensions of states regarding loss of fiscal autonomy and permanent revenue loss are allayed.
