    Life remain crippled for the second consecutive day today across the Southern districts of Tamil Nadu following continuing protests by people and various outfits against the Supreme Court?s stay yesterday on central government notification allowing bull-taming and bull-cart racing in the State.

    Hundreds of people, Jallikattu enthusiasts, bull tamers and bull rearers were observing fast at Alanganallur village, demanding the Central and State Governments to take immediate steps to vacate the apex court?s stay order.  The agitators also threatened to boycott the forthcoming assembly elections in the State, if the traditional sport was not allowed to be conducted during the ensuing Pongal festival.
     
    Six youths began a fast-unto-death stir near  Madurai district collector office, this morning.
     
    In Palamedu village, hundreds of men and women resorted to road-roko agitation near the bus stand.  A section of people were also observing fasting agitation. Similar protests were being staged at Melur, Idayapatti, Avaniyapuram, Sholavandan, Vadipatti and elsewhere in this district.
     
    Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has minimised its service in several rural areas of the State owing to tensed situation.
     
    Black flags were hoisted atop the houses at various villages in Dindigul, Sivaganga, Theni and Ramanathapuram districts.
     
    As tension is mounting up in rural areas, police have tightened security arrangements across South Tamil Nadu. It may be recalled that the Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa yesterday sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an ordinance for facilitating the conduct of jallikattu.
