High Court refuses to quash FIR against Simbu for Beep song
The Madras HC has yet again refused to pass any interim order on his plea seeking to quash the FIR registered against him by the Central Crime Branch (CCB).
Chennai
Justice R Subbiah on posting the case to January 22, observed that it would be improper to issue any order when a Judge has already directed him to appear before both the Coimbatore and Chennai police by on or before January 29.
It may noted that his earlier plea seeking for a directive to the DGP to issue circulars to all the police stations in the State not to register any more FIRs against him on the beep song issue was turned by MHC on ground that the plea was unmaintainable.
Meanwhile, music composer Anirudh who was also named in the FIR made an appearance along with his lawyer before the Coimbatore Race Course Police on the night of January 11.
The composer had reportedly denied any involvement with the controversial song and that he has been unnecessarily dragged into the controversy. He also later tweeted that “As required of me, I have reported to the police of Coimbatore in person and given my statement.”
