Security stepped up for temple festival
Over three lakh devotees are expected at the famed temple in Rameswaram for the kumbabhishekam, for which security and traffic arrangements are being set in place by the police
In view of the kumbabhishekam of the Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, scheduled to be held here on January 20, DIG (Additional charge) Anand Kumar Somani held discussions with temple and civic officials on Sunday. The DIG discussed the traffic route as well as security arrangements for the event which is expected to draw over three lakh devotees to the famed temple. Joint Commissioner of the temple C. Selvaraj, Ramanathapuram Superintendent of Police Manivannan also took part in the discussions. The yagasalai pooja will commence on January 15. Owing to this, devotees will not be able to have darshan of the presiding deity from January 16 to January 20. Also, as per the officials, devotees will not be allowed to take bath in all the wells within the temple premises.
