Protect water bodies: BJP MP
Tarun Vijay, Rajya Sabha MP of the BJP, lauding the people of Tamil Nadu for their efforts during the recent flood stressed on the need to protect waterbodies

BJP’s Uttarakhand Rajya Sabha MP, Tarun Vijay, on Monday said, “We must protect water bodies and clear channels to avoid flooding and the people of Tamil Nadu should be congratulated for helping flood-affected people.”
He said that he had provided Rs 50 lakh to the Tamil Nadu government from his MP fund towards the rehabilitation of flood affected and added he would disburse Rs 20 lakh to Sevabharathi Tamil Nadu for flood relief and construction work. “I must salute Chennai people for helping each other during the floods and I have come here to help them. I am also collecting funds from my constituency and I am certain that more funds would reach Tamil Nadu,” he said.
He added that the Centre would recommend the Human Resource Department for implementing International Thiruvalluvar award for social activists. Blaming the previous Congress regime for banning Jallikattu, the MP said, “If the previous Congress government had taken a proper decision on Jallikattu, the people would not have to worry today,” he said.
