BJP man pulls up youth drinking in public, attacked
A state level Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionary sustained serious injuries after he was attacked by a group of youngsters near a temple in Vaniyambadi in Vellore district on Friday.

Police said Sivaprakasam, a state-level functionary of the  BJP, on Thursday questioned a group of four youngsters, who were reportedly consuming alcohol in public near a lodge in Vaniyambadi. The youth left the spot after a verbal altercation.Â
On Friday morning, when Sivaprakasam was walking near a temple, the group attacked him with deadly weapons. A badly injured Sivaprakasam was rushed to hospital. Police have picked up four youngsters on suspicion and are interrogating them.Â
Reacting to the attack on Sivaprakasam, senior BJP leader H Raja, talking to reporters in Chennai, condemned the incident and demanded the state government to take quick and immediate action to bring the culprits behind the act to book.Â
He said that some fundamental elements, who are out on bail, are carrying out such attacks. Sivaprakasam was saved by locals and admitted to a hospital. Â Around 18 stitches were required to treat his head injuries.Â
The senior functionary of the  Tamil Nadu BJP charged that the state government has so far not paid solatium to those Hindu leaders who were either attacked or killed in various districts. Regarding the alliance for upcoming Assembly polls, he told reporters that a clear picture would emerge before Pongal.Â
About the efforts to remove the ban on jallikattu , Raja said, necessary measures were being made to lift the restriction.
