A new ad for a fashion brand questioning the arranged marriage system where the girl has to prove she is capable of running a household, has been lauded for breaking conventions.

Soon after its release a few days ago, the advertisement has garnered over 2.9 lakh views and 67,000 likes on social media.  With the tagline ‘Change is Beautiful’, the ad shows a young woman getting ready to meet a potential match. Nervous and confused, she asks her father how she would decide about her life partner just over a plate of samosas .Â
But her father walks away in a huff.  At the meeting, the girl’s father asks the boy’s family if their son is capable of doing household chores. When they tell him he can barely boil water, but can make noodles in the microwave, the father replies his daughter cannot survive on just noodles. After an uneasy silence from both parties, the boy breaks the ice and says he needs 10 days to prove how capable he is and will learn cooking.Â
The ad ends with both families laughing in relief and happiness.Â
