    An official press release here said the Chief Minister presented the check to Tamil Nadu Tennis Association President M A Alagappan of Murugappa Group. Tamil Nadu government is the Platinum sponsor for the Chennai Open tennis, the only ATP tour event which is being staged in Chennai since 1997. Tamil Nadu Tennis Association Secretary C B N Reddy and Chief Organising Secretary Hiten Joshi were also present at the Secretariat when the Ms Jayalalithaa presented the cheque to TNTA Chief. 

    New govt offices inaugurated Jayalalithaa also inaugurated a slew of new buildings to house various offices under the Revenue Department built at a total cost of Rs.71.55 crore through video conferencing from here. Among the new buildings were the Tirupur Collectorate Master Plan Complex built at a cost of Rs.55.32 crore, residential quarters for sub-collectors, office buildings for tahsildar, revenue inspector and a government guest house. Also, new office buildings for tahsildar at Ambur, office buildings for revenue inspectors in regions including Namakkal and Karur districts were inaugurated. She also inaugurated 23 Village Administrative Officers’ office cum residential quarters in districts including Kanchipuram, Ariyalur, Tiruvallur and Virudhunagar. 

    Revenue Minister RB Udayakumar and top government officials participated. The Chief Minister also inaugurated Amway’s new facility on Monday via video conferencing from the Secretariat. The new facility is a Rs 300 crore worth plant, spread over 50 acres at Nilakkottai, Dindigul. This will be Amway’s first manufacturing facility in India and third manufacturing plant located outside USA. The plant will employ around 500 people directly and benefit more than 1000 people indirectly.
