While a slew of celebrities, including National Award Winner Vidya Balan and Indian cricket team Test Captain Virat Kohli, recently signed a petition seeking upholding the ban against the bull-tam-ing sport of Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu, PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss urged the Centre to enact an urgent law in the current session of the Parliament for conducting Jallikattu. (taming of bulls). The state government should also give pressure to the Centre for enacting the urgent law, he said.

Meanwhile, Sarath Kumar, founder of Samaththuva Makkal Katchi and member of Tenkasi assembly constituency, has also said that banning Jallikattu and taking positions against it are against public sentiments.

In another statement, Dr Ramadoss condemned Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for submitting a memorandum to Prime MinisterNarendra Modi seeking the Centre’s permission to construct a new dam in Mullaperiyar and said such a move would divide the unity between the people of two states.

Ramadoss, referring to Jayalalithaa’s recent message on the unprecedented rain which submerged Chennai city wondered why she was reluctant to own up to the fact that she was responsible for the floods. She has claimed that she expedited relief/rescue operations on a war footing and that she would be with the people always. But even after 16 days, water had not receded in many areas and she never met people in person, the PMK leader alleged in his address.
