The Tamil Nadu State government announced that anybody in the rain affected districts of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Cuddalore who missed their education certificates could apply to the school education department, which would provide the duplicate certificate at the earliest.
Based the same, the school education department had set up special camps from December 14 to get applications from candidates for their certificates at over 130 centres in these four districts, including 54 in Chennai.
According to Director of School Education (DSE) Dr. S. Kannappan, in the last three days, 4,500 candidates have applied to get duplicate certificates through the special camps and the department has taken all steps to issue the certificates at the earliest after verification of records with the directorate of government examinations. Meanwhile, 15,000 students in the rain devastated districts have been provided psychological counselling as part of the State’s mobile psychological van.
“The psychological counsellors counselled students on how they need to prepare for the ensuing exams, score more marks, besides keep their mind free from any worry. This process will continue in the coming days too,” Dr. Kannappan said.
