What is the situation on the ground near the worst-affected areas in the city?
There is enough relief material in worst-affected areas like Tambaram and Velachery. They have the necessary aid in form of food, medicines and camps set up by doctors. The situation in Central Chennai is more or less under control, except T Nagar, where many streets are still under water.Â
Are relief materials adequate?Â
The problem now is not the supply. The need of the hour is the careful coordination for the effective distribution of these materials. Also, with most shops opening, there is no need to worry about essentials.Â
What are the areas that should be focused on?Â
Pulianthope and Ambattur need a lot of help and they have been cut off from relief in the last few days now. Cuddalore district. which has been facing the bruntof the rains for the last few days, needs assistance.
