Reject Kerala’s demand on dam: Tamil Nadu leaders

Kerala law null: Vaiko
Citing chronological happenings with the issue MDMK leader Vaiko has said that the SC ruled in favour of raising the reservoir level up to 142 ft from 136 ft on basis of recommendations of five-member expert committee under Justice A S Anand in 2014. Constitutional bench of the SC made the Kerala law null and void and formed a three member maintenance committee for the dam.
Govt should speak out: DMK
DMK President Karunanidhi also had reiterated the government should speak out on the issue to reveal its stand since Kerala had been silent until now. To raise the issue all of a sudden and the Kerala CM meeting PM Modi cannot be comprehended. Oomen Chandy has demanded a new commission to review the strength of the dam to avoid Chennai like situation, the former CM noted.
Dam strong enough: Vasan
The state is expecting a ruling from the SC in regard of raising the reservoir level up to 152 feet after strengthening the Baby dam according to the supervisory panel; so the dam is strong enough to use and there is no need for a new dam, said the TMC leader G K Vasan. He also stated that it is improper to raise the issue both legal and scientific. Hence the TN government should explain the central government all the facts relevant to the issue.
