Govt hospitals distribute herbal drink to prevent dengue
In a bid to control viral fever and dengue from spreading, the state government has made the herbal health drink Nilavembu Kudineer available across several outlets

The State government is distributing a herbal concoction called Nilavembu Kudineer which is believed to be the best remedy for dengue. It has taken this step in the wake of many cases of dengue fever having been reported across Tamil Nadu and as a preventive measure.Â
The Northeast monsoon can become the becoming the breeding ground for various types of viral fever, such as the mosquito-borne dengue and chikungunya, which are causing the government some concern. About 492 persons who visited hospitals across the state with complaints of fever were suspected of having dengue, however, 34 of the cases were confirmed and treated for dengue.
A potion to the rescue
The Chennai Corporation had asked people not to panic as it had made arrangements to distribute the potion, Nilavembu Kudineer through the Amma canteens and primary health centres across the city. The Tamil Nadu Government has opened special counters at the Chennai General Government hospital, Kilpauk Medical College, Royapettah Government Hospital and Stanley Hospital to distribute this concoction to people. The drink is believed to effectively shield people from a range of communicable diseases.
