Being the boy next door
Chennai’s own boy Dhanush has been creating waves not only in Kollywood, but in Bollywood as well
Chennai
He is the thin, average boy who dreamt big and went on to become a huge success story. Dhanush entered films in 2002, through his father Kasthuri Raja’s film Thulluvadho Ilamai. He very quickly became a rage, especially after he appeared in his brother Selvaraghavan’s film Kadhal Kondein. Next came Thiruda Thirudi, directed by Subramaniam Siva, which became a huge hit. Like the plot of many Tamil movies, Dhanush proved that hardwork and dedication to work pays off. Hailing from a humble family, Dhanush went on to win hearts and awards. In 2004 he married Aishwarya, daughter of Rajinikanth. The next few years saw Dhanush acting in a number of films, doing various roles. He faced some failures and many were critical of his choice of films. He began to work with other directors, continued to work hard, and completed 25 films in just ten years. He has acted in Bollywood as well. In 2011, when he won the National Award in the Best Actor category for Aadukalam, he proved that he is a force to reckon with. That same year Dhanush sang Kolaveri di, a song that went to become a global rage. Dhanush also entered into production of movies. Kaaka Muttai produced by him won the National Award this year. Many endorsements have come his way and this year he was made the brand ambassador for the Indian Super League. Today, he is an actor, singer, producer and a youth icon.
