96 was remade in Kannada with Bhavana and Ganesh. The Kannada remake was titled 99 as opposed to 96, and was directed by Preetam Gubbi.
The latest is that, Adhithya Baskar has finalised his second film as the lead and the film is all set to go on floors by the end of this month. A source says, “He will be working with director Prasath Murugesan, who made his debut in Tamil with Sasikumar’s Kidaari. The makers are planning to make an official announcement in a couple of weeks. His character in this will be completely in contrast to the one he played in 96. Other cast and crew are yet to be finalised.”
Prasath Murugesan is also co-directing Queen, a web series which is based on the life of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
