Kamal takes a break from shoot due to surgery

According to a statement, Haasan suffered a fall in his office and fractured his leg in 2016. He underwent surgery and an implant was placed in his leg.

“Due to his very busy schedule in political and film commitments, there had been a postponement in the removal of the implant. The surgical procedure, which is slated to happen tomorrow, aids in the removal of the implant. Furthermore, he has been compelled to take a break for the next few weeks to physically recoup,” reads the statement. Haasan is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film Indian 2, which is being directed by Shankar.

The film, a sequel to the 1996 Tamil blockbuster Indian, marks the reunion of Haasan and Shankar after two decades. It also stars Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh and Priya Bhavani Shankar among others.

The first poster of the film was unveiled on the occasion of the Pongal earlier this year. The team will soon head toTaiwan to shoot some important portions of the movie.

Indian 2 marks the return of Kamal Haasan as the octogenarian vigilante Senapathy. The film, which is being produced on a lavish budget by Lyca Productions, has music by AnirudhRavichander.

Earlier there were speculations that actress Kajal Aggarwal will be resprising actress Sukanya’s role from the original, in Kamal Haasan’s much-awaited film, Indian 2. Now, a source close to the team has confirmed that young actress Priya Bhavani Shankar will be seen playing Kamal’s wife in the film, that of an 80 plus woman and she has undergone a huge makeover for the character.” We also hear that the Meyyaadha Maan star will be looking younger in the flashback portions. Interestingly, the source also reveals that Kajal Aggarwal will be seen as Kamal Haasan’s friend in the film and she will be playing the role of an 80 plus woman as well. Bankrolled by Lyca, AR Rahman will be composing the music for the film.
