“Even my Tamil debut Mehandi Circus that released earlier this year is one such example. I was impressed with the idea of playing a circus performer, as there are hardly any roles written that way. When the director of the film Rajendran approached me, I was excited by it and started prepping for my character of Mehandi,” she begins.

The actress recalls on how it was to play a human target of a knife-throwing circus troupe. “You would have seen me smiling on screen despite knives being targeted on me. Trust me, it wasn’t that easy. I had my heart in my mouth and during rehearsals, I almost went numb,” she smiles.

Tell her it was one of the few Tamil films with a strong content this year, she smiles and says, “Im glad that there are people who appreciate films like Mehandi Circus. These are the kind of scripts and teams that I would like to work with. Everybody should be in the same frequency and have the vision of delivering a good content to the audience who pay to watch us on the big screen. My upcoming film Cargo will be another unique attempt. It is a sci fi flick that is being shot in a spaceship Pushpak 634A and the entire storyline was mind-boggling when I heard it. It revolves around the subject of after-life transitions. I would like to explore as an artiste and even my previous film Gone Kesh dealt with alopecia. I’m not in a rush to do regular commercial entertainers.”

Shweta says that she has listened to a few scripts in the south. “I would like to work with filmmakers like Karthik Subbaraj and Vetri Maaran among others in the South. They have been coming up with interesting stories. I will zero in on a script soon and an official announcement will be made,” concludes the actress.
