Kangana’s Thalaivi starts rolling after Jaya kin’s nod
The actress started shooting for the trilingual film in Chennai on Sunday.

The shoot of Kangana Ranaut’s biopic on the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, went on floors on Sunday. Kangana Ranaut and the makers of the film Vishnu Vardan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh took to social media to announce it with the picture of the clapboard. Last week, Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar recently moved the court against director Vijay and Gautham Menon, who are working on films based on the late CM. She claimed that the family’s consent should be taken before making a film on the former CM’s life. “Jayalalithaa was a great political personality and her life story cannot be filmed without incorporating my association with the former leader,” she said. Saying that the biopic would amount to intrusion into her privacy. However, sources from the film’s unit said that they have begun the shoot of the film only after getting a No-Objection-Certificate from Jaya’s nephew and Deepa’s brother Deepak.
Another source close to the film’s unit confirmed to DT Next that Arvind Swami has been roped in to play the late Chief Minister MG Ramachandran in Thalaivi. Kangana honed her Bharatanatyam skills to fit the role. GV Prakash will compose the music for the film while Jason Collins, who has worked in films like Blade Runner and Captain Marvel, is working on Kangana’s look in the biopic. Thalaivi has dialogues by Vijayendra Prasad.
