‘Didn’t want to miss a chance to work with Vikram sir’
Actress Priya Anand has been enjoying a triumphant run across film industries over the last couple of years. She will be next seen in Dhruv Vikram’s Adithya Varma, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy that is all set to release on Friday.
Chennai
“My role in Adithya Varma could be called as an extended cameo. There are a few reasons I agreed to do the film because the producer of this film Mukesh Mehta of E4 Entertainment, launched me in Malayalam with Ezra. Moreover, the presence of Vikram sir on the sets is something I couldn’t afford to miss. There is a lot that I learnt from him while we shot for this project. We know how dedicated he is to any film he commits to. For Adithya Varma, he gave his heart and soul for his Dhruv’s debut to shape well,” she begins.
Priya says that her character in the film yet again will have a fresh tone to it. “I believe in taking up roles that I haven’t done before. Moreover, Vikram sir helped me with my dubbing. A good dubbing elevates the performance. He suggested that I add a little base tone to my voice and that has enhanced my performance well,” she reveals.
It was exactly 10 years ago, Priya made her debut with Vaamanan featuring Jai in the lead. The actress says that she doesn’t regret that she hasn’t been the heroine to A-listers like Ajith, Vijay and Suriya. “I am in a happy space and when I look back at the work that I have done, I feel blessed. People keep asking me the same question. Their concern shows that I have done a good job as an actor. Also, I have never rushed to do films. I have done movies only when the script ignites a spark in me,” she adds. The actress will be next seen in Sumo that will see her featuring alongside Shiva for the second time after Vanakkam Chennai. “It is a comic caper and working with Shiva is a lot of fun. He has the ability to deliver a witty dialogue with a straight face,” Priya concludes.
