‘People now recognise me as Anbu and not Arjun’
Radio presenter-turned-actor Arjun Das has been the talk of the town ever since Kaithi hit the screens last week. The actor has pulled of the role of a drug lord effectively and many tinseltown celebrities heaped praises on his performance.

“The director of the film Lokesh Kanagaraj had heard my voice when I was a radio jockey and called me for an audition. He was convinced and suggested my name to SR Prabhu, who liked my voice too. That is how Kaithi happened,” the actor told DT Next. However, Arjun was initially sceptical if he could pull off the role. “It is because I am a small built guy with a base voice. I had apprehensions if I could play such a heavyweight character. Lokesh calmed my nerves and he made every single frame of mine look convincing. Wherever I go, people call me out as Anbu, which is overwhelming. The feeling has notyet sunk in,” he added.
Post the release of Kaithi, Arjun has been flooded with offers.
“Though I have listened to scripts, I have a couple of other films in the pipeline. My independent film Andhagaaram is due for a December release. I am also a part of Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki 2. I am awaiting the release of these films because saying ‘yes’ to a script is now a huge responsibility. I am excited and nervous for my journey ahead in K’town,”he concluded.
