Hero title trouble: Issue likely to be dragged to court
Tribal Arts, which had registered the title of Hero in July 2017 for a Vijay Deverakonda film, issued notice to KJR Studios on Wednesday to cease and desist from using the title for its Sivakarthikeyan starrer.
Chennai
E arlier this year, we had reported that the producers of Sivakarthikeyan and Vijay Deverakonda have been fighting it out for the title of Hero.
The latest news is that Tribal Arts, the production house which had registered the title of Hero with Vijay Deverakonda in lead role, have now issued a legal notice to KJR Studios. In a statement, SV Pravin Rathnam, the advocate of Tribal Arts, said, “We had registered the title in July 2017 with the Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council and had renewed it as per the new regulations of the council in June 2018. Without any enquiries or intimations, they have used the title for their film. Despite our request to TFPC earlier this year, KJR Studios went on using the same title for their film and have now started to promote it. Hence, we ‘warn’ them to cease and desist from using Hero as the title for their film. If they continue to do this, we will be pursuing all legal actions in near future.”
KJR Studios were unavailable for a comment on the issue. Hero that has Sivakarthikeyan in the lead went on floors in March and will hit the screens on December 20. The film has Kalyani Priyadarshan and Arjun Sarja in pivotal roles.
