    The UNICEF celebrity advocate and actor Trisha Krishnan attended an event in the theme #Endviolence  as part of the 30th year celebration of Convention on the Rights of the child and interacted with the students of Stella Maris College on Wednesday. This event was held in association with Thozhamai, a human rights organisation and the UNICEF club of the institution.

    The 96 actor addressed 3000 students. She reached out to the youngsters to fight against the conspiracy of silence and stated the importance of giving voice against violence. She said that the violence against children has increased and the sad part is that the perpetrators are not strangers to the children but known people.

    She appreciated the current cinema which covers many women centric movies and she pointed out actor Ajith’s role in the movie ‘Nerkonda parvai’ which defends women’s plight in nation. She also highlighted the role social media plays in spreading the concerns when used for the right cause. 

    She also said that sanitation should be improved and the education for girls regarding sanitation and hygiene must come a long way. She stated her concern over the children in Jammu and Kashmir.

    The students shared their role in spreading awareness through street plays with the actor, who praised them and extended her assistance whenever needed. 

    The event ended with the actor felicitating the students who completed ‘Child rights and why it matters’ course, which was introduced by UNICEF.

    She concluded with a grateful note for being able to work towards a noble cause along with UNICEF.
