Mei is inspired from real-life incidents
Debutant director SA Bhaskaran’s film Mei produced by Sundaram Productions has Nicky Sundaram and Aishwarya Rajesh in lead roles. Talking about the film to DT Next, Bhaskaran said, “Mei is inspired from a real-life incident that I came across in 2016-2017.
Chennai
It is a meta thriller that deals with the crime that happen in medicine and healthcare. When I came across the incident, I had shared this with my friend Sentha Murugesan, who has written the screenplay for the film. That is how the project took off.” Talking about roping in Nicky as the lead, he said, “The script requires a male lead, who can convince the audience that he is an NRI. Nicky was the obvious choice. He plays an NRI, who is hit by a tragedy in his life. It is a role that is packed with suspense. Aishwarya Rajesh plays a medical representative, which is a first for a heroine and will contribute to the graph of the script.”
The team will also release a single titled Maalaye Pon Maalaye composed by Prithvi Kumar. “It is a breezy number that will go on to become a chartbuster in everyone’s playlist ahead of the film’s release on August 23,” Bhaskaran concluded.
