Thanne Vandi to hit the screens in October
Umapathy Ramaiah, the son of actor Thambi Ramaiah who was last seen in Cheran’s Thirumanam, will be seen playing a lorry driver in his next titled Thanne Vandi.
Chennai
“The film is in its post-production stage and will be completed once Thambi Ramaiah dubs for his portions next week,” said Manika Vidya, the director of the film to DTNext.
Thanne Vandi in Tamil refers to an alcoholic. “In this case, the hero, Umapathy is a tanker lorry driver, who spends his time in bars after he is paid the advance. His father Thambi Ramaiah plays offscreen father as well and is a hearing-impaired character. The film will be known for humour shouldered by Umapathy and Bala Saravanan,” he added.
Talking about roping in Umapathy for the role, Manika said, “I was in lookout for a bigger hero. But when I narrated the story to Thambi Ramaiah, he showed me Umapathy’s portfolio. I was impressed with his skills and narrated the story to him. Unlike other heroes, he listened to the narration for three hours and liked the story.” On a concluding note, the director said that the film will hit the screens in October. “We are looking at the right time a week before or after Deepavali to release the movie. In no way, Thanne Vandi promotes alcoholism,” he concluded.
