I made mistakes, but I have learnt from them: Vemal

Exactly nine years ago, Kalavani released and elevated my career. I’m sure that Kalavani 2 will help me establish myself as an actor with good market value in Kollywood,” he begins. Vemal hasn’t had a smooth ride in tinseltown. His last release Ivanukku Engeyo Macham Irukku was written off by the audience.
“It is high time that I clarify about the film now. It was a remake of Guntur Talkies and the director had shot scenes that were inappropriate for the script. I was sceptical about it from the beginning. Before the launch of the trailer, I was informed that the film is titled Ivanukku Engeyo Macham Irukku and I was taken aback. So I decided to wash my hands off the film and what was supposed to be a family entertainer ended up as an adult comedy. That is when I learnt that I should listen to stories from filmmakers, who execute what is there on the paper. I have learnt from my mistakes but in the hard way,” he explains.
Coming back to Kalavani 2, he says that the film is set in the backdrop of a local election. “The story continues from where it ended. The movie is set in the backdrop of Orathanadu in Tanjore district. Despite making the sequel after eight years, the chemistry between Oviya and we only got better. Kancha Karuppu is reprising his character of Panchayathu again. Kalavani 2 will be two times funnier than the original,” adds the actor.
Talking about his upcoming projects, he says, “I am now shooting with Shriya Saran for a film titled Sandakari which is a remake of Malayalam film My Boss. Apart from that I have a film with Soori.”
