On Monday, the director in a statement said that his resignation would pave way for a democratic election within the body.

“I thank the members for unanimously electing me as the President. However, I could feel the dilemma within the union after being elected last month. Therefore, I have resigned from my post to allow a democratic selection of the President. The future of the members shall continue with my guidance and affection.”

We hear that the association’s general body meeting took place in Kamala Theatre in the second week of June and the announcement was made after a resolution was passed to elect him as president. Meanwhile, Bharathiraja oversees the ad-hoc committee for the Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council and will be responsible for the body till the formal elections next year. On the workfront, the veteran director will be seen playing a crucial role in Sasikumar’s upcoming film Kennedy Club, helmed by director Suseenthiran.
