Sethupathi, Yuvan chip in with fund to help their film’s release

Vijay Sethupathi’s much expected film, Sindhubaadh, was supposed to hit the screens on July 21, along with Dhanush’s Pakkiri. However, the film missed the scheduled date due to the on-going financial tussle between the producer of Sidhubaadh, Rajarajan, and Baahubali producers Shobhu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni of Arka Media Works.

Rajarajan got into legal trouble as he failed to pay his pending dues of Rs 17 crore to the producers of Baahubali, who had earlier given him the distribution rights of their film. Now, it looks like, Arka Media Works has given a no-objection certificate to release Sindhubaadh today (June 27) after Vijay Sethupathi and the composer of the film, Yuvan Shankar Raja stepped up to solve the issue. A source close to the team told DT Next, “Vijay Sethupathi and Yuvan Shankar Raja paid Rs 1 crore each to the producers of Baahubali, on behalf of Rajarajan. Shan Sutharshan of Vansan Movies, who is co-producing the film, also paid some amount to help the film’s release.”

On Wednesday, Shobhu of Arka Media Works released a statement regarding the release of Sindhubaadh, and Dhanush-starrer Enai Nokki Paayum Thota, which is also backed by Rajarajan under his banner K Productions. They said that the Arka Media Works held discussions with various parties and following that hey had agreed to issue a no objection certificate for release of the movie Sindhubaadh. However, this only applies only to Rajarajan’s other movies in production. Arka Media Works also clarified that Enai Nokki Paayum Thota starring Dhanush and Megha Akash, Madaithiranthu starring Rana Daggubati and Regina Cassandra, which is also bankrolled by K Productions, will have to undergo legal hassles prior to its release.
