Vishal Krishna meets us on the sets of his film with Sundar C that’s currently underway in full swing in the city. He walks out of his caravan to shoot for a stunt sequence. The actor-producer is quite notorious for getting injured while shooting for action scenes. “My left shoulder is injured while I was shooting for Irumbu Thirai 2 last week. It’s a tendon injury and I am undergoing physio sessions,” he begins.

Vishal is simultaneously shooting for Sundar C’s untitled project and Irumbu Thirai 2. However, the Nadigar Sangam election that is all set to take place on June 23 has been the talk of tinseltown. While there were reports that the actor will not contest in the upcoming elections for the Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council, he clarifies, “I am contesting in the Nadigar Sangam elections for the post of General Secretary again. I can talk about it in detail after we file our nominations on June 8, 9 and 10. That is when I will know who my opponents are.

However, what I can tell you is, the ongoing TFPC crisis will not impact the Nadigar Sangam elections. The government has not taken over the council. They have just formed a ad-hoc panel to oversee the functions of TFPC. It has happened before, and this is not something new. We are waiting for the court order.” There were rumours doing rounds that he had met with Sarathkumar and Radikaa last week ahead of the elections. Vishal denied it. Sundar C meanwhile, narrates him the scene and he is ready for the take.

After he is back from the shot, he talks about his films. Ayogya, which released on May 11 after delays and several negotiations. When asked if he is happy with the verdict, he says, “I have mixed feelings about the release of Ayogya. The film despite releasing on a Saturday, which is unusual, still had decent collection of over Rs 8 crore.” On his upcoming projects, he says, “I am shooting for my project with Sundar C and will join the sets of Irumbu Thirai 2 (tentatively titled) next week. Thupparivaalan 2 with Mysskin is also in the pipeline this year.” We also remind him that his marriage is set to take place this year and he laughs, “That’s in October and we haven’t finalised the dates yet. Once our families zero in on an auspicious date, I will announce it myself.”
