Ever since director Murugadoss announced that his upcoming project will feature Rajinikanth in the lead, there were reports circulating on social media that many actors from Bollywood will also be a part of this magnum opus.

Post the first schedule, the makers of the film revealed that Prateik Babbar plays the villain in the film and in fact have a lot of combinations scenes with the Superstar. Actors like Dalip Tahil, Jatin Sarna and Pradeep Kalra have also shot for their respective portions in Mumbai. Now, we hear from reliable sources that renowned B’wood actor Suniel Shetty has agreed to play a pivotal role in the film and might join the sets by the end of this month.

A source close to the film’s unit says, “It’s true that Suniel Shetty will be making a comeback in Tamil with Darbar after almost 19 years. He plays a role of a coporate biggie in the film and his character has shades of grey.” What’s more interesting is that, Prateik Babbar is Suniel Shetty’s son in the film and it looks like the entire story revolves around these two characters.

“The second schedule of the film will begin in Chennai on May 29,” the source adds. Suniel Shetty was last seen in a Tamil film titled 12B, which featured Jyotika and Shaam in the lead roles. Darbar is touted to be an action entertainer, which will have Superstar playing the role of a retired IPS officer. While Nayanthara plays the female lead, Anirudh Ravichander composes music for the film. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, the cinematography and editing are being handled by Santhosh Sivan and Sreekar Prasad, respectively.
