ENPT, Sindhubaadh release faces legal hurdles over unpaid dues

Dhanush’s upcoming movie Enai Noki Paayum Thota (ENPT) and Vijay Sethupathi’s Sindhubaadh have landed in trouble over the financial issues between the producers of the Baahubali series. We had earlier reported that Rajarajan had unpaid dues to Shobu Yarlagadda over Tamil Nadu theatrical distribution rights.

A statement from Pujitha Gorantla, the lawyer for Arka Mediworks states that Rajarajan owes Rs 17.70 cr but the distributor had failed to settle his dues. Though Baahubali 2 is the highest grosser in Tamil Nadu beating all Tamil films, Rajarajan hasn’t cleared the pending dues.

The makers approached the Telangana High Court to obtain a stay on the release of two films till Rajarajan (Sindhubaadh producer) of K Productions and P Madan (ENPT producer) of Escape Artistes Motion settle the dues. Although the issue is between Rajarajan and Shobu Yarlagadda, K Madan was a made co-obligant in the issue, which has affected the release of ENPT.

On Wednesday, May 8, the Telangana High Court passed an interim order against the release of two films. Sindhubaadh was scheduled for release on May 16, while ENPT was to hit the screens by now.

A leading financier told DT Next, “Even otherwise it would have been difficult for ENPT to release because the producers haven’t made the final settlement to Dhanush.”
