Favourite cuisine:
It keeps changing. A few years before it was Lebanese. Later, it was Thai. Now, it’s Italian. I’m in love with salads, pasta and olive oil.
It’s become comfort food over time. I’m particularly in love with the Burrata salad.
First dish I made:
Ah! It was vendakai and rasam. My father, brother and I were home alone and we had to make something to fill our tummies. I was just 14 then but I’m glad we managed to make something edible.
Cooking disaster:
Well I don’t really cook but whenever I’ve tried it’s been a disaster. I tried making this Indian curry at my in-laws and it turned out quite embarrassing. And the rest as they say is history. I’ve never cooked anything elaborate since. The one thing I’m very good at is making Maggi. I make sure I treat my daughters to them when we’re travelling. As for my husband, I just slather some butter on bread and give it to him. Funnily, I’ve stopped eating bread now.
New Year resolution:
I’ve always been satisfied and happy with everything in life. But if there’s one thing that I’ve felt inadequate about, it’s the fact that I can’t really cook. Speaking of which, my friend Ramya Krishnan is a wonderful cook. She whips up something magical every time we meet. I should learn from her. I hope she’s listening!
