He has been conferred lifetime honorary membership by the India Africa Trade Council. The 49-year-old Nahar is a well-known personality in the jewellery field. A prominent face in the Jain community, he “enjoys the diversities that different cultures and languages bring” as they allow him to learn constantly. His experience cuts across an array of fields ranging from textiles to automobiles and consumer electronics.
“The Eastern coasts of Africa and Tanzania, in particular, have enjoyed strong links with India. We are old maritime neighbours. Together, our leaders and our people have fought colonialism and racial oppression. Our merchants have traded since the early nineteenth century,” Nahar said. India and Tanzania share a vibrant economic, commercial and business tie. India is the largest trading partner of Tanzania comprising 16% of Tanzania’s foreign trade. India is also among the top five investment sources in Tanzania. As per Tanzania Investment Centre, Indian investments in Tanzania are in excess of $2.2 billion. The trade between the two countries is over $2.5 billion.
