ASSOCHAM organises conference on MSME Support and Outreach Campaign

The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India organised a conference on MSME Support and Outreach Campaign titled 'Strengthening The Ecosystem for MSMEs in Food Processing' in the city on Friday.

The conference was inaugurated by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Suresh Prabhu.

In his welcome address, Mangurish Pai Raikarl, Chairman, MSME, ASSOCHAM National Council, the Agro and Food processing was Sun rising sector in India with less risk factor for start-up.

He said objective of the conference was to create awareness of various schemes of Government of India by MSMEs, SC/ST and Women Entrepreneurs for strengthening Food Processing eco system in the country and to encourage investment in food processing sector in the State.

He gave an overview of the agro and food Processing sector in the state and discussed ongoing projects in the state.

Kamakshi S Pai, General Manager, NABARD, Goa, focused on the main schemes provided by NABARD to farming community and food processing industry.

She requested to perspective entrepreneurs to avail the schemes of NABARD as well and gave brief introduction about the present agro scenario which was the main raw material for the sunrising sector.

Levinson Martins, Collector, North Goa, discussed on campaign being launched by Department of Financial Services in 100 districts for strengthening the eco system for MSMEs.

He instructed several departments of the state to raise awareness among entrepreneurs and promote various MoFPI schemes namely agro processing clusters, unit scheme, scheme for creation of backward and forwarded linkages, cold chain, and quality assurance infrastructure, intense drive to facilitate food safety registration licensing under FSS Act and encourage employee social security benefits under Jan Dhan, PMSBY, PMJJBY, EPF, ESIC, PMRPY.
