Announcing three plans, Rs 144, Rs 792 and Rs 1584, for mobile customers, Leo said users would get unlimited local and STD calls, 2 GB data daily and 100 SMS daily for 30 days, 180 days and 365 days respectively.

Although the SIM card has been initially distributed to employees of Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved, the plan could also be purchased by customers once they get Swadeshi Samdriddhi card on purchasing a Patanjali product, the BSNL official said.

Members could activate the plan by visiting the nearest BSNL customer service centre with their Patanjali ID and any government issued identity document. Arrangements have been made to activate the plan through 15,000 franchisee and retail outlets all over TN, he added.

Stating that BSNL lost 18 existing connections for every 100 new customers, the CGM said efforts were under way to ensure a hassle-free connectivity.

Leo said core equipment has been installed for providing 4G connectivity. Further, 771 4G towers, 1,498 3G towers and 1,127 2G towers would be set up in the State to improve the connectivity, he added.

In addition to these, the BSNL would provide a global connectivity card for Rs 501, which could be activated through 44 million hotspots worldwide.
