Amazon to help TN weavers with e-sales

Functioning under the administrative control of the Department of Handlooms and Textiles, the TN government, LoomWorld was created as a brand name to promote the products produced by 800 Weavers Co-operative Societies supporting 1.89 lakh weaver households across the state. 

Silk and Cotton Weavers Co-operative Societies are the participating members of LoomWorld. Through this partnership, the special store on Amazon.in will offer exquisite selection from the  state for products ranging from silk sarees, cotton sarees, bedsheets, towels and more. OS Manian, TN Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, said, “The state produces some of the finest hand-woven products which have always found resonance with shoppers across the country. 

LoomWorld is delighted to partner with Amazon India as it will mark the beginning of a new journey for the weavers to get access to millions of Amazon customers in the country.” Established with the objective of providing support to Weavers Co-operative Societies, special showrooms were started under the brand name LoomWorld across the state. 

The first sales outlet of LoomWorld started in 2000 in Anna Nagar, Chennai. Currently, LoomWorld has showrooms in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Dharmapuri, Kancheepuram and Erode. To offer additional marketing support to the weavers is the main focus of LoomWorld. 

“This launch allows us to make a positive impact on the lives of the weavers and artisans from Tamil Nadu by providing them easy access to newer markets.
