Considering its application across diverse segments such as factories, warehouses, logistic parks, shipyards, airports, schools and large format retail stores, the company is keen on expanding the scope of its adoption.

Manish Sanghi, MD, Everest Industries said the use of this technology could save time and cost immensely. This could result in one-third savings against conventional building, he said, citing the instance of Goa shipyard, a dolphin-shaped RO-Ro ferry terminal and an exhibition ground in Mumbai. All these involved technical challenges, which the company has been able to overcome.

Factories and warehouses constitute the bulk of its business but with better adoption, the company is confident of the projects in the commercial, IT, schools and hotel sectors generating 50 per cent of the revenues. Pegging the PEB market at Rs 5,000 crore in India, Sanghi said, the domestic market offers immense opportunities to tap this segment, which is growing at a rapid pace. Presently, the PEB division contributes Rs 500 crore revenues. The company is growing at 20 per cent annually and requires only three months to expand capacity, if need be. It has plants in Dahej, Roorkee and Ranchi while one of its roofing facilities is in Coimbatore. Some of its major projects include clients such as MTR Foods, Sundaram Motors, Tata Power and Motherson Sumi.

Everest Steel Building Solutions has already completed over 2,000 PEB projects covering more than 5 Cr sq ft of construction across 275 cities in 29 states in India. Incidentally, the company unveiled the first-of-its kind technical manual for the PEB technology in the city, when an panel of well-known structural consultants and architects from Chennai comprising Dr CN Srinivasa Rao, K S Money, Oscar G Cancessao, Dr S Kandaswamy, and Prashanth Kharche, were there.
