The delegation was led by Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). Along with R Doraikkannu, Minister for Agriculture, Tamil Nadu, she addressed industrialists, businessmen and farmers from the state, seeking their participation in the three-day mega event in Delhi in November.
The event will serve as a platform to connect key international and Indian players in food processing and allied sectors. The Union Minister said, “Food Processing is the only sector which can act as a bridge between the farmers and the industry. WFI will help develop global partnerships whose benefits will be availed by the farmers. We have seen a 40% increase in FDI in India, since the decision to allow 100 FDI in Food Processing sector has been taken by Prime Minister Modi. The time is right to invest in food processing sector. The event will help showcase what Tamil Nadu can offer to global and domestic stakeholders, and will promote unique food processing products specific to Tamil Nadu at a global level.”
She added, “A mega food park is already being developed in Coimbatore. Investors must establish various units there for which we will provide necessary subsidies. TN must take full advantage of SAMPADA Scheme.”
