    Tamil digital media brand enters small screen space

    Culture Machine’s Put Chutney, a city based digital media brand, is now making its foray into the small screen space, with an hour-long show on a Tamil General Entertainment Channel (GEC). The move marks the union of the two media outlets to create digital to linear long-form original content.

    This alliance is being hailed as the first of its kind in South India, where a digital brand has extended its footprint onto a major broadcast television network. The format and characters for the show have been developed by Put Chutney, Culture Machine’s South Indian arm. 

    Tuhin Menon, President, Culture Machine said, “This deal with the GEC represents a major extension of the brand, which now straddles both digital and linear platforms. We could not have found a better partner to take our brand to the next level.” Founded in 2013 by Sameer Pitalwalla and Venkat Prasad, Culture Machine, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Aleph Group, Singapore is a Digital Media company who use technology and storytelling to build media brands. It currently licenses its core technologies to advertisers, media companies and agency partners across the world.
