As many as 19 new brands have appeared in the listings, which analyses data from 16 Indian cities on the trust that consumers place on brands. Samsung was ranked as India’s Most Trusted Brand of 2017 (climbing 17 ranks from 2016).

Sony and LG both retain their 2016 rankings and are at second and third ranks respectively. Apple ranks as India’s 4th Most Trusted Brand and, rising 12 ranks from 2016, makes it to the top 5 for the first time.

Brand Tata’s trust defies the temporary imbroglio it faced to occupy 5th rank. The 6th position is held by the automobile giant Honda; Maruti Suzuki follows, taking the 7th spot. Dell is at 8th rank and Lenovo, climbing 18 ranks from 2016, features in the 9th position in the list. Bajaj, a brand which has been in the top 10 in five out of the seven reports, comes in at the 10th rank in India’s Most Trusted Brands list.

N Chandramouli, CEO, TRA Research, said at the Report’s launch, “Brands from Chennai have been seen to be doing consistently well in the country. In keeping with the committed and determined ethos of the city, niche Chennai-based brands like RMKV, ranked 413; Pothys, ranked 459; Veltech University, ranked 464; Bovonto, ranked 537; and Ramraj Cotton, ranked 563 in the All-India listings have been listed as well.

The other brands featuring from the city—Amrutanjan ranked at 627, falling from rank 264 in 2016, and Butterfly Appliances ranked 937, falling from rank 405 in 2016—have dropped immensely in their trust rank this year.”
