The 1,000th BharatBenz BS-IV truck was handed over to the customer by Autobahn Trucking, which operates three BharatBenz dealerships as the brand’s exclusive dealer in Kerala. The state had migrated even earlier to the BS-IV standard in November 2016 already.

Erich Nesselhauf, Managing Director and CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said, “One thousand BharatBenz BS-IV trucks on the road underline our commitment to lead this upgrade to cleaner, more efficient vehicles. We worked for more than a year to be fully BS-IV ready on 1st April.”

DICV’s entire BharatBenz product range of trucks above 9 to 49 tonnes has been available as BS-IV variants since August 2015. 2017, more than 1,000 BharatBenz BSIV trucks have been delivered to customers and clocked up more than 200 lakh kilometres.

DICV has collected feedback from early customers, which had been positive: customers also appreciate the fact that BharatBenz BS-IV vehicles also accept BS-III fuel, if required. The company has worked for more than a year to be fully ready for the transition on April 1 2017, from product development through after-sales.

BharatBenz BS-IV vehicles meet the upgraded norms using a system based on SCR technology proven in thousands of Daimler commercial vehicles in many markets for over a decade. DICV tested this technology in Indian operating conditions for over a million kilometres before starting to roll it out to customers in 2015.
