OPS’s brother booked for threatening doctor couple

In the recent past, a portion of the vacant land was dug up for initiating construction works, but even after digging up, no construction was carried out.

MADURAI: O Shanmugasundaram, brother of former chief minister O Panneerselvam, has landed in trouble after Thenkarai police in Theni district filed a case against Shanmugasundaram over a land dispute, sources said on Tuesday.

Shanmugasundaram, councilor of ward 24, Periyakulam Municipality, was alleged to have threatened a doctor couple, who were residing close to a vacant land being owned by Shanmugasundaram. In the recent past, a portion of the vacant land was dug up for initiating construction works, but even after digging up, no construction was carried out. The doctor couple, including Thirumalai and Vimala felt that the dup up portion, which remains uncared for, was affecting the foundation of their house and hence engaged the workforce to clear the portion of land. Meanwhile, Shanmugasundaram got into a quarrel with the couple and alleged to have threatened them with dire consequences. Based on a complaint, Thenkarai police filed a case against Shanmugasundaram, sources said.
