Anbumani condemns murder of social activist in Karur

The murder of Jaganathan has created shock waves across the state and his murder was widely condemned by various political parties.

CHENNAI: PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday condemned the death of Jaganathan, social activist, who was murdered in Karur for registering a complaint against illegal stone quarries.

Taking to Twitter, Anbumani said "murder of Jaganathan who filed a complained against illegal stone quarry functioning in Karurkuppam village in Karur district is highly condemnable. A person who was murdered for trying to protect the natural resources shows that there is a strong mafia behind the murder and the state government should investigate the murder and arrest those involved in the incident."

The murder of Jaganathan has created shock waves across the state and his murder was widely condemned by various political parties. While condoling the death of Jaganathan, Anbumani urged the state government to provide compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family of Jaganathan and to provide government job for one of the family members of Jaganathan.

Meanwhile, Anbumani also urged the state government to shutdown liquor shops:

Quoting an incident in Kanchipuram district where a 17-year-old boy murdered his elder brother under inebriated state, Anbumani said that persons in normal state will not attack their mother and only when a person is in under the influence of alcohol they will even attack their family members. State government should not hesitate and take steps to close down liquor shops.
