Woman, son, daughter-in-law get life term for murdering 90-yr-old farmer

According to the prosecution, Saminathan (90), a resident from T-Pazhur had shared his land to his sons Dharmaraj (58) and Thangamani (48) and kept one acre of land for himself.

TIRUCHY: Ariyalur court on Thursday awarded life term for a woman, her son and daughter-in-law for murdering her husband. According to the prosecution, Saminathan (90), a resident from T-Pazhur had shared his land to his sons Dharmaraj (58) and Thangamani (48) and kept one acre of land for himself. However, without the knowledge of Saminathan, Thangamani was cultivating the land belonging to him. When he came to know about this, Saminathan along with his son Dharmaraj quarreled with Thangamani on July 20, 2020. In such a backdrop, Saminathan was found dead on the next day and his daughter Dhanalakshmi who suspected the death, lodged a complaint with Vikkiramangalam police. The police who conducted an investigation arrested Saminathan’s wife Panchavarnam, son Thangamani and daughter-in-law Santhi and the case was on progress with the Ariyalur Principal Sessions Court. On Thursday, when the case came up for hearing, the judge M Mahalakshmi awarded life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 to all the three. Subsequently, they were lodged in the prison.
