Sri Lankan artist Chitrasena given Padma Shri

India on Wednesday honored renowned Sri Lankan artist Dr. Vajira Chitrasena with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for her contributions in the field of dance, an official statement said here on Wednesday.

Chitrasena, 89, and late professor Indra Dassanayake are among the two eminent SL personalities who were conferred with the Padma Shri for their seminal contributions in the field of dance and literature, Education respectively.
